(Cost, Insurance, and Freight) value limit for the import of consumer electronic items for personal use. Previously capped at Rs. 2,000, the new limit is now set at Rs. 50,000. This amendment, effective from August 12, 2016, excludes hearing aids, life-saving equipment, apparatus, appliances, and their parts. The change was enacted under the authority of the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992, and is detailed in Notification No. 22/2015-2020 issued by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
