Delegation of Chief Commissioner powers: Principal Commissioners with additional charge may exercise Chief Commissioner authority within the notified jurisdiction. The Central Board of Excise and Customs, under sub-section (1) of section 5 of the Customs Act, 1962, invests specified officers with the powers of Customs Officers of the ranks shown in the Table for the jurisdiction in Notification No. 77/2014-Customs (N.T.). All Principal Commissioners given additional charge of a Chief Commissioner by Board Office Order are empowered to exercise the powers and authorities of the Chief Commissioner within that jurisdiction.
