These goods are necessary for the National AIDS Control Programme funded by the Global Fund to fight AIDS, TB, and Malaria. The exemption applies to specified anti-retroviral drugs, pediatric drugs, and diagnostic equipment. Manufacturers must present a certificate from a designated official in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare confirming the goods' necessity for the program. This exemption is granted under the Central Excise Act, 1944, and will not be effective after April 1, 2016.
