of <h1>Amendment to 2000 Rules: Chairman of Customs Commission Must Have Six Months Service Remaining at Vacancy Time</h1> The Customs and Central Excise Settlement Commission (Recruitment and Conditions of Service of Chairman, Vice-Chairmen, and Members) Amendment Rules, 2007, were issued by the Ministry of Finance. Effective upon publication in the Official Gazette, the amendment modifies Rule 3 of the 2000 Rules. It specifies that the Chairman must be selected from among the serving Commission members with at least six months of service remaining at the time of the vacancy. This amendment was formalized under the authority of the President, as per Article 309 of the Constitution.
