of <h1>India Amends Customs Rules: Importers Must Prove Goods' Origin for Exemptions Under Notification No. 12/2015-Customs.</h1> The Government of India, through the Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue, has issued Notification No. 12/2015-Customs dated March 10, 2015, to amend Notification No. 96/2008-Customs. The amendment requires importers to prove to the satisfaction of the Assistant or Deputy Commissioner of Customs that the goods claiming exemption originate from countries listed in the notification's schedule, in accordance with the Rules of Origin. This change is deemed necessary in the public interest and is enacted under the powers conferred by the Customs Act, 1962.
