of <h1>India exempts services for religious pilgrimages by specified organizations under bilateral arrangements from service tax.</h1> The Government of India has issued Notification No. 17/2014 to amend Notification No. 25/2012 related to Service Tax. This amendment, effective from August 20, 2014, introduces an exemption for services provided by specified organizations in relation to religious pilgrimages facilitated by the Ministry of External Affairs under bilateral arrangements. The specified organizations include Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam Limited and committees defined under the Haj Committee Act, 2002. This change is deemed necessary in the public interest and is published in the Gazette of India.
