of <h1>Government Approves New IT Special Economic Zone at SIPCOT IT Park, Chennai, Covering 10.85 Hectares, Effective December 2007.</h1> The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Department of Commerce, has issued a notification approving the establishment of a sector-specific Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for information technology and IT-enabled services. This SEZ is to be developed by a private organization at SIPCOT IT Park, located in Siruseri and Kazhipattur Villages, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The approval, granted under the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005, covers an area of 10.85 hectares, as specified in the survey numbers. The notification formalizes the designation of this area as an SEZ, effective from December 17, 2007.
