<h1>Government Forms Tax Administration Reform Commission to Boost Efficiency and Compliance; Initial Report in Six Months</h1> The government announced the formation of the Tax Administration Reform Commission (TARC) to review tax policies and laws, recommending reforms to improve tax administration efficiency. The Commission, chaired by Dr. Parthasarathi Shome, includes full-time and part-time members and will operate for 18 months, providing initial recommendations within six months and periodic reports every three months. Its mandate includes reviewing tax governance structures, business processes, dispute resolution, taxpayer services, and capacity building. The Commission will also focus on enhancing tax compliance, expanding the tax base, and improving inter-agency information sharing. It will be supported by a Secretariat and headquartered in Delhi.
