of <h1>Excise Duty Exemption for State Government Factory Goods Rescinded in 2017; Amendments Made in 2006, 2011, 2016.</h1> The notification, dated February 28, 1993, exempts specified goods manufactured in State Government factories from excise duty, provided they are intended for use by any department of that government. This exemption, enacted under the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944, applies to goods listed in the annexed table, including those under various chapters and headings of the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985. The exemption was rescinded effective July 1, 2017, by Notification No. 9/2017-Central Excise. Amendments to the original notification were made in 2006, 2011, and 2016, adjusting the scope and descriptions of exempted goods.
