of <h1>Government Amends Service Tax Rules, Extends Applicability to Additional Sub-Rule Effective May 1, 2006</h1> The Central Government has amended the Service Tax (Registration of Special Category of Persons) Rules, 2005, under the authority of the Finance Act, 1994. This amendment, effective from May 1, 2006, modifies rule 3, sub-rule (3) by replacing 'sub-rules (2) to (7)' with 'sub-rules (2) to (8).' This change extends the applicability of the rules to an additional sub-rule. The original rules were established by notification No. 27/2005-Service Tax on June 7, 2005.
