of <h1>Association for Welfare of Persons with Mental Handicap Approved Under Section 35(1)(iii) for Tax Benefits</h1> The Association for the Welfare of Persons with a Mental Handicap in Maharashtra, Bombay, has been approved as an institution under section 35(1)(iii) of the Income-tax Act, 1961, by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, New Delhi. This approval is valid from February 28, 1987, to March 31, 1988. The institution must maintain separate accounts for funds received for scientific research, submit annual returns of research activities by May 31 each year, and provide audited accounts and balance sheets to the prescribed authority and the Central Board of Direct Taxes by June 30 annually. Applications for extension must be submitted three months before approval expiry.
