of <h1>Central Government Amends Notification on Vehicle Classification for Transport of Up to Seven Persons Under Heading 8703</h1> The Central Government has amended Notification No. 53/2003-Central Excise, dated June 17, 2003. The amendment, issued under Notification No. 17/2006-CE dated March 1, 2006, changes the wording in the original notification. Specifically, the phrase 'falling under heading No.87.03' is replaced with 'for transport of up to seven persons including the driver, falling under heading 8703.' This amendment is made under the authority of the Central Excise Act, 1944, and relevant sections of the Finance Acts of 2001 and 2003, in the public interest.
