Summary: An entry or disclosure in a company's financial statements, including the balance sheet, signed by appropriate functionaries constitutes a written acknowledgement of liability that restarts the limitation period from the date of signing. Aggregated or general disclosures may still operate as acknowledgements but can require courts to seek debtor-supplied particulars. Unrebutted confirmations from debtors or auditors transmitted with statements of account can also amount to written acknowledgement, and clarification that silence within a reasonable time constitutes confirmation is advisable.

Summary: Proposed income-tax exemptions cover amounts received from employers or other persons for COVID-19 medical treatment and ex-gratia payments to family members on death from COVID-19, with employer payments exempt without limit and other payments exempt up to a capped aggregate; legislative amendments will be proposed. Multiple compliance deadlines and administrative time limits for filing statements, certificates, registrations, linkage of personal identifiers with tax records, payment under the dispute settlement scheme, and processing returns have been extended by notifications and a circular to relieve pandemic-related compliance burdens.
Summary: Approval under merger control is granted for acquisition of the Zuarinagar plant, whereby the acquirer will obtain the business of developing and manufacturing urea and non-urea fertilizer products at that site, effecting a site-specific transfer of manufacturing activities and production lines to the purchaser.
Summary: The Government issued substantially more dated securities in Q4 FY21, with a higher weighted average yield and shorter weighted average maturity than the prior quarter; no Cash Management Bills were issued. The Reserve Bank conducted multiple OMOs and maintained net liquidity absorption under LAF. Provisional end March 2021 liabilities rose quarter on quarter, public debt formed the bulk of liabilities, and a notable share of dated securities had residual maturity under five years. Yields hardened-particularly at the short end-due to increased supply and resumed normal liquidity operations, partially offset by the MPC's unchanged policy rate and accommodative stance.
Summary: APEDA and the Indian embassy held a virtual buyer-seller meet connecting Indian exporters, processors and trade associations with Algerian importers and officials to explore export opportunities, with emphasis on GI certified agricultural products and commodities including cereals, animal products and rice, as part of APEDA's virtual export promotion series during pandemic restrictions.
Summary: The statement emphasises India's policy push to attract foreign investment through FDI reforms, privatisation and the PLI scheme, supported by macroeconomic stability, stronger GST compliance and infrastructure-led growth. It identifies climate, ESG and sustainability investments as priority areas, and commits to ongoing stakeholder engagement and ease-of-doing-business measures under a strategic vision of Intent, Inclusion, Investment, Infrastructure and Innovation.
Summary: IFSCA established a committee to design a roadmap enabling ship financing and leasing from GIFT IFSC by assessing legal, regulatory, tax and related frameworks, identifying bottlenecks to cross-border ship finance and leasing transactions, and recommending measures to align IFSC operations with international best practices and create a facilitative environment for shipowners, lessors, carriers and other maritime stakeholders.
