New Delhi, Aug 20 (PTI) Customs officers at Delhi's IGI Airport seized gold paste weighing 745.8 grams and apprehended both the carrier and the alleged receiver on Thursday.
According to an official statement, based on intelligence inputs, customs officers intercepted an Indian passenger arriving from Riyadh at the green channel.
During X-ray screening of his baggage, suspicious images were detected, following which the bag was subjected to thorough examination.
"The examination led to the recovery of two oval-shaped capsules containing gold paste, weighing 745.8 grams," the statement said.
During interrogation, the passenger disclosed that a receiver was waiting outside the airport to collect the smuggled gold. Acting swiftly on the information, customs officers apprehended the alleged receiver, it said.
Further investigation is underway, officials said. PTI MHS RUK RUK
