Patna, Jul 2 (PTI) Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary said on Thursday that his government would take strict action against ministers, MLAs and officials if they were found to be involved in corruption.
Addressing a function here, the chief minister said Bihar would become corruption-free through the principles of "Triple T"—Transparency, Technology and Trust—as these would further strengthen good governance in the state.
"The Bihar government will identify corrupt individuals and open schools in properties confiscated from them," he said.
The Vigilance Investigation Bureau, the Special Vigilance Unit and the Economic Offences Unit will take action against those involved in corruption, Chaudhary said.
"The government will also take strict action against ministers, MLAs and officials at all levels found involved in corruption. Ensuring justice for the poor remains the government's highest priority”, said the CM.
He said the government remained committed to a zero-tolerance policy against corruption and would ensure the swift investigation and speedy trial of corruption-related cases.
Special Vigilance Courts will be established in all nine divisions of Bihar to ensure the speedy disposal of corruption cases and prompt punishment of the guilty, the chief minister said.
"The government will provide transport allowance to government witnesses in criminal and economic offence cases whenever they are required to travel to depose before a court. A Vigilance Police Station will be established in every district, while Vigilance Outposts (OPs) will be set up in all subdivisions to strengthen anti-corruption enforcement,” he said.
He also urged the state's Economic Offences Unit and Vigilance Investigation Bureau to adopt advanced technologies and engage experts so that they develop modern investigative capabilities comparable to the country's premier agencies, such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Calling for integrity in public life, the chief minister urged officials to shun the culture of shortcuts and uphold honesty and dedication to duty.
Chaudhary also announced that anti-corruption awareness campaigns would be conducted in schools to inculcate ethical values among students. PTI PKD NN
