Srinagar, Jun 19 (PTI) The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) has taken over the assets of the Sirajul Uloom Welfare Foundation, an educational institution in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district, after it was declared an illegal entity by the authorities earlier this year, officials said on Friday.

In an order, the provisional liquidator said all properties and assets in the name of the Sirajul Uloom Welfare Foundation have been vested in the National Company Law Tribunal, Chandigarh.

The Sirajul Uloom, which imparted both formal and religious education, was declared an illegal entity on the basis of a dossier alleging that it had covert links with the banned Jamaat-e-Islami and promoted anti-national ideology.

The provisional liquidator warned that any interference with or encroachment upon the properties would amount to a violation of the tribunal's orders and would invite action under the relevant legal provisions.

The order further stated that trespassers would be prosecuted. PTI MIJ MDO MDO
