Kolkata, Jun 5 (PTI) Kolkata-based PPE manufacturer Mallcom India Ltd on Friday said it has invested over Rs 100 crore in a new manufacturing facility at Sanand in Gujarat, as part of its strategy to expand domestic production capabilities, strengthen localisation and reduce dependence on imports.
The Sanand plant, Mallcom's 17th manufacturing unit, currently employs more than 200 people and is expected to generate over 300 jobs by next year, a company statement said.
The facility manufactures products like NBR and PU gloves, safety helmets and bump caps.
The company recently added a new NBR glove dipping line with online printing and stripping facilities, and has started local production of Protech PU gloves, which were previously imported, it said.
Mallcom has also established “India's first domestic tariff area (DTA) unit” for Protech PU gloves at the Sanand facility, aimed at reducing import dependence in a segment largely dominated by overseas suppliers.
"The Sanand facility represents a significant milestone in our expansion journey and reinforces our commitment to building globally competitive manufacturing capabilities in India," Mallcom Executive Director Giriraj Mall said.
The unit will serve as a key growth driver in the company's manufacturing roadmap, enabling it to scale capacities, deepen localisation and accelerate product innovation in the PPE segment, while expanding its manufacturing footprint beyond West Bengal and Uttarakhand, the company said. PTI BSM RBT
