National Sample Survey (NSS) under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) is responsible for conducting large scale sample surveys on various socio-economic subjects across the country and give estimates of important indicators based on the Central sample data, both at the national level and the State/UT level.

MoSPI supports States/ UTs to enhance their capacity building through its Support for Statistical Strengthening (SSS) Sub-Scheme which aims to improve/ strengthen the statistical capacity and operations of the state statistical system for collecting, compiling and disseminating reliable official statistics.
