Aadhaar Mandatory Biometric Updates for School Children enable authentication access and exam eligibility after nationwide MBU drive
UIDAI requires fingerprints and iris biometrics to be captured for children upon crossing ages five and fifteen; this update is essential for successful Aadhaar authentication and for access to government benefits and registration in competitive and university examinations, so failure to complete MBU can impede those services. UIDAI made MBUs free for children aged seven to fifteen for a one-year period, increasing uptake through school camps and enrolment centre transactions; the integration with the Unified District Information System for Education Plus enabled schools to identify due children and facilitated completion of over one crore MBUs across 83,000 schools, expanding practical access to authentication.
