US-India interim trade framework sets reciprocal tariff reductions and market access, establishes 18% tariff on Indian originating goods
An interim USIndia trade framework commits to mutual tariff adjustments and expanded market access: India will eliminate or reduce duties on US industrial and agricultural products, enabling broader exports of items such as processed fruit, oilseeds and tree nuts; the US will apply a reciprocal tariff rate of 18% to originating Indian goods across sectors including textiles, leather, machinery and artisanal products, with specified reciprocal tariff removals (eg, on generic pharmaceuticals, gems and aircraft parts) conditioned on final agreement. The framework also records commitments to additional market access and more resilient supply chain arrangements.
