USIndia trade deal cuts US reciprocal tariff to 18% and secures partner commitments to eliminate barriers and buy American
A bilateral trade arrangement is announced in which the United States will reduce its reciprocal tariff on imports from the partner country from 25% to 18%, producing a lower customs duty on those goods. The partner country will purportedly eliminate tariffs and nontariff barriers against US goods, effectively opening market access and reducing import restrictions. The partner also committed to increased public procurement of US products and sizeable purchases of US energy, technology, agricultural, and other goods, creating enforceable commercial purchase expectations. The changes are presented as immediate commitments following a bilateral phone discussion.
