Women-led MSE participation in public procurement through GeM's Womaniya program exceeds mandated 3%, securing over Rs.80,000 crore
Womaniya under GeM establishes and operationalizes measures to increase women-led MSE participation in public procurement: over 200,000 women-led MSEs are registered and have secured orders exceeding Rs.80,000 crore, representing 4.7% of GeM's total order value and thereby exceeding the statutory/mandated 3% procurement target for women-owned or women-led enterprises, with the operative effect that women-led suppliers have achieved procurement allocation above the mandated threshold. The initiative prescribes a fully digital, transparent procurement interface eliminating intermediaries, with the operative effect of reducing entry barriers and facilitating direct access, price discovery and compliance with Government Financial Rules for these suppliers. A formal MoU with a women's collective institutionalizes onboarding, documentation and training support, with the operative effect of strengthening supplier registration, product listing and sustained participation.
