A National Industry Platform Supporting CBAM Readiness and Trusted Cross-Border Trade with the European Union New Delhi, India: As the European Union transitions CBAM from a reporting mechanism to a full compliance regime, Indian industry today marks an important step in strengthening its export ecosystem with the launch of the India CBAM Registry ( www.IndiaCBAMRegistry.org ) — a national, industry-led digital platform designed to enable EU buyers to discover CBAM-ready Indian suppliers and support exporters in meeting evolving carbon transparency requirements. The India CBAM Registry has been instituted to serve as a central reference platform for CBAM-covered goods, bringing together Indian manufacturers, exporters, and European importers under a standardized, transparent, and credible framework. The platform supports India’s broader low-carbon trade readiness by improving supplier visibility, data discipline, and buyer confidence in CBAM-relevant supply chains. The Registry initiative is being rolled out with the involvement, participation and support from leading export promotion and industry bodies, including the Services Export Promotion Council (SEPC, under Ministry of Commerce and Industries), and The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI). The platform will be officially unveiled at a national online launch event on 28 January 2026 at 10:00 AM IST. Why the India CBAM Registry Matters? With CBAM entering its mandatory phase, European buyers are increasingly seeking reliable, methodologically correct, and CBAM-ready suppliers. At the same time, Indian exporters require structured systems that allow them to demonstrate readiness without exposing confidential emissions data in public forums. The India CBAM Registry addresses this gap by functioning as a trusted discovery and reference platform. Key Capabilities of the India CBAM Registry ● Centralised national directory of Indian suppliers for CBAM-covered products ● Supplier identification based on standardized CBAM reporting frameworks ● Secure buyer-to-supplier CBAM data request routing ● Alignment with EU CBAM reporting structures Speaking on the initiative, Mr. Abhay Sinha, Director General, SEPC (Under Ministry of Commerce and Industries), said, “CBAM compliance is not only a regulatory issue but also a strategic opportunity. Digital infrastructure that connects compliant suppliers with EU buyers will be essential for India’s export resilience in the coming decade. And IndiaCBAMRegistry helps in navigating everything about CBAM and connects all EU buyers with suppliers of CBAM covered products and advances ambitions of a low-carbon economy.” “The India CBAM Registry, a platform for EU buyers and Indian suppliers, will play a transformative role in strengthening India’s position in global low-carbon trade. Our goal is to empower exporters with clarity, tools, and technology that ensure full CBAM compliance while helping EU buyers connect with credible and climate-aligned suppliers in India,” said Mr Nilesh Bhattad, CEO and Founder, CleanCarbon.ai. Operational Stewardship The India CBAM Registry is operationally managed by CleanCarbon.ai, which provides the digital infrastructure, CBAM methodology alignment, and supplier assessment frameworks used within the platform. Supplier Inclusion Indian exporters of CBAM-covered goods to the European Union may apply for inclusion in the India CBAM Registry. Eligible companies may write to [email protected] with relevant company and product details. Listings are added to the Registry following a verification process in accordance with the Registry’s standardized assessment framework.
