<h1>Rs 26,069 crore approved for 1,720 MW Kamala storage hydro project with flood moderation, 70:30 financing, tax support</h1> Approval is granted for expenditure of Rs 26,069.50 crore for the proposed 1,720 MW Kamala storage-based hydroelectric project on the Kamala River, to be jointly implemented by NHPC and the Arunachal Pradesh government. The project's financing is prescribed at a 70:30 debt-equity ratio, supported by Government of India grants for enabling infrastructure and the flood moderation component, and by 100 per cent SGST reimbursement by the state government; these approvals and fiscal supports enable project execution over an 8-year schedule. The project incorporates a flood moderation component intended to provide flood relief in the Brahmaputra basin, and provides for 12 per cent free power to Arunachal Pradesh and annual contributions to a local area development fund.
