Market intervention scheme for 2025-26 kharif maize: Rs 2,150/quintal benchmark with price-deficiency payments up to Rs 250.
Karnataka has approved a Market Intervention Scheme for the 2025-26 kharif maize crop prescribing a Market Intervention Price of up to Rs 2,150 per quintal and authorising price-deficiency payments where the average modal price is Rs 1,900 or below; eligible farmers will receive up to Rs 250 per quintal, tapering as prices rise and ceasing when prices reach Rs 2,150 or above, thereby compensating shortfalls below the benchmark. The scheme restricts covered transactions to a maximum of four lakh metric tonnes routed through the UMP in notified APMC and sub-market yards, caps assistance at 50 quintals per farmer (subject to landholding records and a 12-quintal-per-acre ceiling), excludes farmers who supplied maize to specified industrial/feed purchasers, and mandates verification, quality checks, DBT payment, supervision, and post-implementation audit.
