<h1>October 2008 Indirect Tax Revenue Falls 5%, Customs and Excise Down, Service Tax Up 18% in September.</h1> Indirect tax collection data for October 2008 shows a decline in Customs and Excise revenue compared to the previous year. Customs revenue dropped by 0.9% for the month, with a cumulative growth of 15.2% up to October. Excise revenue decreased by 8.7% for the month, with a slight cumulative increase of 0.6%. The total indirect tax revenue for October 2008 was Rs. 19,646 crore, a 5% decrease from the previous year. Conversely, Service Tax revenue for September 2008 increased by 18% for the month and 28.7% cumulatively, reaching Rs. 5,766 crore.
