India-Oman trade pact on preferential tariffs for exports and sensitive imports, granting 98% duty-free access but excluding key items
India and Oman signed a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement establishing preferential tariff treatment for bilateral trade, including duty-free access in Oman for 98% of India's exports such as textiles, agricultural products and leather goods, thereby reducing customs duties on covered Indian-origin goods and expanding market access for Indian exporters. India prescribed a non-concession regime for specified sensitive products by excluding, inter alia, agricultural items (including dairy), chocolates, gold, silver, jewellery, footwear and sports goods from duty concessions under the pact, thereby maintaining existing import-duty protection for these categories and limiting preferential access for Omani exports in those sectors.
