MATRIX initiative boosts tech startups with massive incubation expansion, inclusive support and Rs 1 lakh crore investment push
The Maharashtra government has approved the MATRIX initiative through a Government Resolution issued by the Industries, Energy and Labour Department to promote technology-driven startups via expanded incubation facilities. The scheme provides plug-and-play workspaces, labs, internet, prototype tools, and legal, financial and branding support, along with investor and market linkages. Nearly 200 incubation centres with about 15 lakh sq ft capacity are planned to support at least 10,000 startups in five years, with projected investments of Rs 1 lakh crore and creation of around one lakh jobs. Ten per cent of incubation capacity is reserved for startups led by SC/ST communities, women and minorities to ensure inclusivity.
