Himachal boosts natural farming with new sales centre, MSP support, and industry linkages for turmeric and other crops
The Himachal Pradesh agriculture authorities announced policy measures to promote chemical-free natural farming through a newly inaugurated sales centre under a state scheme. The agriculture department has been directed to develop a structured marketing mechanism in coordination with relevant industries, including potential linkages with medicinal and cosmetic sectors for products such as raw turmeric. The state government is already procuring naturally grown crops, including turmeric, maize, wheat, and barley, at the highest minimum support price to support farmer incomes and expand natural farming. Over 2.23 lakh farmers are currently engaged in natural farming on 38,456 hectares, and similar sales centres are planned in other districts.
