18th Bihar Assembly opens December 1 with oath, new Speaker election, Governor address, budget and appropriation bill
The inaugural session of the 18th Bihar Legislative Assembly will begin on December 1, when all newly elected members will take the oath of office before a senior JD(U) leader appointed as pro-tem Speaker by the Governor. During the five-day session, the House will elect a new Speaker, with the BJP, the largest party, expected to nominate one of its members, reportedly a former minister and long-serving MLA. A joint address by the Governor to both Houses is scheduled for December 3, followed by presentation of the second supplementary budget, debate on the motion of thanks to the Governor's address, and, on the final day, debate and passage of the appropriation bill.
