<h1>CISF named Recognised Security Organisation for 250 Indian ports under ISPS Code, taking charge of core security operations</h1> The central government has designated the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), under the Union Home Ministry, as the Recognised Security Organisation (RSO) for about 250 Indian seaports under the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code, replacing the Indian Register of Shipping. Acting as nodal regulatory authority, CISF will oversee core port security functions, including counter-terror and anti-sabotage operations at EXIM ports, and provide consultancy, hybrid manpower deployment, and training for stakeholders. Non-core functions will remain with private security and state police. The move, formalised by an order of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways and aligned with 2023 MHA guidelines, will be implemented within six months and may require a substantial increase in CISF personnel.
