India and Bahrain reaffirm deepening bilateral ties, commence talks on comprehensive trade and investment deal and DTAA
The Indian External Affairs Minister and the Bahraini Foreign Minister held a phone call reaffirming efforts to deepen their longstanding multifaceted bilateral partnership and discussed regional and global developments. Earlier talks in New Delhi led to the commencement of negotiations for a comprehensive trade and investment agreement and an agreement to begin talks on a double taxation avoidance agreement (DTAA) intended to eliminate double taxation, provide tax certainty and boost trade and investment. The relationship has strengthened recently, with two-way trade at USD 1.64 billion in 2024-25 and a large expatriate community in Bahrain.
