India's CO2 emissions projected to rise 1.4% in 2025 despite renewable growth; global carbon budget for 1.5 C shrinking rapidly.
India's CO2 emissions are projected to rise 1.4% in 2025 due to reduced cooling demand and rapid renewable growth that kept coal use almost flat, yet national emissions still grow overall. The report estimates the remaining carbon budget for 1.5 C at about 170 billion tonnes of CO2, notes weakening land and ocean sinks because of higher temperatures and El Nin o effects, and records contrasting trends among major emitters while land use emissions are expected to decline as El Nin o subsides.
