<h1>Legislator accused of forging foreign leader ID to register bogus voters; FIR under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and IT Act</h1> A police FIR was registered against unidentified persons after a state legislator publicly demonstrated creation of a fake national identity card in the name of a foreign head of state and alleged its use to register bogus voters. A rival party official lodged a complaint alleging the act constituted forgery, identity theft, dissemination of false information and incitement against an autonomous institution and a political party. Cyber police have invoked provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for forgery and identity theft and relevant provisions of the Information Technology Act, and are investigating.
