<h1>Government appoints NGO expert to State-Level Committee under Urban Water Bodies (Preservation and Conservation) Act, 2024</h1> The state government appointed a representative of an NGO as an expert member of the State-Level Committee constituted under the Assam Urban Water Bodies (Preservation and Conservation) Act, 2024, to advise on regulation, protection, restoration, conservation, and construction of urban water bodies. The NGO will provide technical input on pollution mitigation and ecological revival, including nature-based solutions and decentralized wastewater treatment systems that claim substantial reductions in BOD, COD and TSS.
