ED attaches 34 immovable assets worth Rs 40.08 crore under PMLA in probe of alleged MUDA allotment corruption
The Enforcement Directorate issued a provisional order under the PMLA attaching 34 immovable assets, including MUDA sites, with a market value of Rs 40.08 crore in a money-laundering probe arising from a Lokayuktha FIR; cumulative attachments in the investigation now total about Rs 400 crore. The agency alleges routing and layering of undue gratification by a former MUDA commissioner, use of proceeds to buy property in relatives'/associates' names, illegal allotment of 31 MUDA sites, and a nexus with real-estate businessmen involving cash payments for site allotments and approvals. A former MUDA commissioner is in judicial custody. A prior Supreme Court order quashed ED proceedings against the chief minister's wife, and a state commission and Lokayuktha have reportedly exonerated the chief minister and his family.
