Petition seeks centralised portal for consolidated e-KYC view of all financial assets, mandatory nominee capture and death coordination
The Supreme Court has issued notices to the Reserve Bank, SEBI, the Centre and others and sought their responses to a petition by an unnamed petitioner requesting directions to create a centralised portal that-post e-KYC-would allow individuals to view a consolidated list of their financial assets (active, inactive, dormant or inoperative) across regulated entities. The petition also seeks mandatory capture of nominee details, and coordination with the home ministry and related departments to detect deaths and notify or identify family members where no nominee exists. The matter is listed for hearing in four weeks; counsel emphasised small investors' unclaimed funds totalling about Rs 3.5 lakh crore.
