<h1>Union Cabinet approves 57 new Kendriya Vidyalayas with Balvatikas, Rs 5,862.55 crore funding over nine years</h1> The Union Cabinet approved establishment of 57 new Kendriya Vidyalayas under the existing central scheme to expand access to uniform-quality schooling, including foundational-stage Balvatikas; sponsorship will be by the Home Ministry (seven schools) and state/UT authorities (the remainder). Estimated funding is Rs 5,862.55 crore over nine years (capital Rs 2,585.52 crore; operational Rs 3,277.03 crore). Twenty schools target districts without prior KVs; others are in aspirational, LWE, northeastern and hilly areas. Each full KV creates prescribed permanent posts (81 per school), yielding 4,617 direct jobs and additional construction employment.
