<h1>August 2008 Indirect Tax Collection Sees Growth: Customs Up 8.9%, Excise Up 1.2%, Overall Revenue Up 4.8.</h1> The provisional indirect tax collection for August 2008 shows a notable increase compared to the previous year. Customs revenue for August 2008 reached Rs. 9,484 crore, marking an 8.9% growth from August 2007, with a cumulative growth of 17.8% for the year. Excise duties collected in August 2008 amounted to Rs. 10,013 crore, a 1.2% increase from the previous year, contributing to a 3.7% growth for the year. Overall, total indirect tax revenue grew by 4.8% for the month and 10.5% for the year. Service tax revenue for July 2008 was Rs. 3,876 crore, reflecting a 9.4% monthly and 24.9% cumulative growth.
