Government and development bank commit $125M loan to deliver continuous metered water, stormwater upgrades, and climate resilience for 360,000 residents
A national government and a multilateral development bank signed a $125 million loan to fund an urban sector project in a northeastern state, aiming to deliver continuous metered water to about 360,000 residents, upgrade stormwater management and boost climate resilience across six district headquarters and the state's largest city. The project finances six water treatment plants (72 MLD combined), 800 km of distribution pipes, real-time monitoring to keep nonrevenue water under 20%, flood diversion and nature-based retention measures, institutional reforms, a state urban development institute, GIS property tax and digital billing, and gender-inclusive training and outreach.
