Assembly adjourned sine die after 45-minute session as protesting MLAs expelled; government passes multiple amendment bills
A one-day territorial assembly session was adjourned sine die after 45 minutes following a protest in which opposition MLAs and an independent member squatted in the chamber and lobby, demanding a longer sitting to discuss public issues including safe drinking water and patient insurance; they were ordered expelled after refusing to return. In their absence the government passed several amendment bills (including municipal, panchayat, town-and-country and GST-related amendments) and adopted a resolution welcoming recent GST reforms, which the Speaker announced as unanimously adopted; three newly nominated members were felicitated before adjournment.
