Investigation panel clears zoological rescue and rehabilitation centre of alleged regulatory, welfare, import and financial compliance breaches
An apex court-recorded report from its specially constituted investigation team cleared a zoological rescue and rehabilitation centre of alleged regulatory and compliance breaches, finding satisfaction with acquisition, welfare and statutory measures; the court said it will issue a detailed order after examining the report. The four-member panel had been directed to probe animal acquisitions (domestic and international), adherence to wildlife and import-export laws, animal husbandry and welfare standards, mortality causes, site concerns, breeding and financial compliance including money-laundering allegations. Counsel for the state and for the centre opposed public disclosure of certain report details; the bench declined further objections and closed the matter.
