<h1>Wholesale price inflation returns to 0.52% in August; food deflation narrows, retail inflation rises to 2.07%</h1> Wholesale price inflation returned to positive territory at 0.52% in August after two months of deflation, following (-)0.58% in July and (-)0.19% in June, driven by higher prices in food products, manufactured goods, non-food articles, non-metallic minerals and transport equipment, according to a government industry ministry statement. Food deflation narrowed to 3.06% from 6.29%, with vegetable deflation easing to 14.18% from 28.96%. Manufactured goods inflation rose to 2.55% from 2.05%, while fuel and power showed deflation of 3.17% versus 2.43% in July. Retail inflation rose to 2.07% after nine months of decline; the central bank recently left policy rates at 5.5%.
