Two companies partner to invest Rs.500 crore in modular MECC reactors turning agricultural and industrial waste into fuels and chemicals
Two private companies formed a strategic alliance to deploy Microbial Electrochemical Cell (MECC) reactors converting agricultural and industrial waste into value-added products, including bio-hydrogen, methanol, bio-methane, acetic acid and ethyl acetate. The collaboration contemplates a Rs. 500 crore investment over three years to scale modular, plug-and-play reactors (0.5-100 t/day), with a first reactor entering trial production at a company site and financial agreements executed. The project targets decarbonization, waste management, multi-site manufacturing, revenue from product sales and IP licensing, and job creation across planning, construction and operations.
