<h1>Central bank declares September 8 markets closed under Section 25; September 5 holiday cancelled, settlements moved to September 9</h1> The central bank announced that government securities, foreign exchange, money markets and rupee interest rate derivatives will be closed on September 8, 2025, due to a state-declared public holiday under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act; the previously declared September 5 holiday is cancelled and markets will be operational on September 5. Settlement of transactions due on September 8, including the September 4 auction of dated government securities, is postponed to September 9, 2025. Standing Deposit Facility and Marginal Standing Facility operations will follow the revised holiday schedule, and SDF/MSF bids placed on September 4 will be reversed on September 5.
