U.S. firm wins 10 CFR Part 810 authorization to export thorium-enriched plug-and-play fuel tech and services to India
A U.S. nuclear fuel company received a 10 CFR Part 810 authorization from U.S. energy and nuclear security authorities to export its thorium-enriched fuel technology and services to India, with assurances from Indian nuclear agencies and operators. The fuel, designed for plug-and-play use in existing PHWR/CANDU reactors, is said to deliver substantially higher burnup, lower waste, improved safety and proliferation-resistant characteristics; test rodlets reportedly exceeded ~45 GWd/MTU. The license enables near-term U.S.-India civil nuclear cooperation, commercial agreements with Indian public and private partners, and supports the domestic HALEU industry.
