<h1>Farmers' union demands reversal of cotton duty cut, MSP at Rs10,075/quintal, compensation, loan waivers and stronger support</h1> A nationwide farmers' union sent an open letter to the prime minister demanding immediate withdrawal of a government notification that removed an 11% import duty on cotton and reimposition of tariffs up to 50%; it seeks declaration of cotton MSP at Rs 10,075/quintal based on C2+50%, restructuring of the Cotton Corporation with block-level procurement and eight-hour payments, a special relief package including Rs 25 lakh compensation retroactive to 2014 for families of farmers who died by suicide, loan waivers, capped microfinance rates at 2% p.a., and expanded MGNREGS funding to 200 days at Rs 600/day, citing collapsing prices, indebtedness and rising farmer suicides.
