Government approves Rs 1,500 crore six-year incentive scheme to build domestic critical minerals recycling capacity and jobs
The government approved a Rs 1,500 crore six-year incentive scheme to develop domestic recycling capacity for critical minerals from secondary sources, targeting about 270 kilotonnes recycling capacity and roughly 40 kilotonnes annual critical mineral output, with projected investment of Rs 8,000 crore and nearly 70,000 direct and indirect jobs. The scheme, part of a broader National Critical Mineral Mission, provides a 20% capex subsidy and staged opex subsidies tied to incremental sales, applies to new and expanded units processing e-waste, lithium-ion battery scrap and other catalytic/scrap feedstock, and caps total support per entity at Rs 50 crore (large) and Rs 25 crore (small).
