Government approves Rs 1,500 crore recycling incentive to boost domestic critical-minerals recovery from e-waste and battery scrap
The Cabinet approved a Rs 1,500 crore incentive scheme to develop domestic recycling capacity for critical minerals from secondary sources such as e-waste, lithium-ion battery scrap and other automotive and industrial scrap. The measure, part of the National Critical Mineral Mission, aims to strengthen supply-chain resilience, increase exploration, reduce import dependence, acquire overseas mineral blocks, and advance processing and recycling technologies. This follows earlier approval of a broader mission with a Rs 34,300 crore outlay over seven years and a Rs 16,300 crore component; public sector entities are expected to contribute about Rs 18,000 crore.
