<h1>UK-India free trade deal cuts average Indian tariffs from 15% to 3%, needs CRaG 2010 ratification; Section 42 advice sought</h1> A recently signed free trade agreement between the UK and India will cut average Indian tariffs on UK goods from 15% to 3%, lower duties by an estimated £400m on entry rising to £900m after staging, and is projected to raise bilateral trade, UK GDP, and wages; implementation requires UK parliamentary ratification under the Constitutional Reform and Governance Act 2010. Independent advice under Section 42 of the Agriculture Act 2020 will be sought from the Trade and Agriculture Commission and food standards bodies before CRaG procedures begin. Complementary social security coordination will be finalised via a Double Contribution Convention.
